CourtLens is an NBA stats site. You can use most of it without an account. This page explains what we collect when you do sign in, why, and how to get it removed.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with an email code or with Google, we get your email address, and from Google also your name and profile photo. Sign-in is handled by WorkOS, our login provider.
- What you do on the site. The team you follow, your pick'em picks, and, if you set one up, your pick'em display name.
- Social handles, only if you add them. Your Instagram and TikTok handles are optional. They are shown on the leaderboard only if you turn that on, and you can remove them at any time.
- The weekly email, only if you sign up. We store your email address, where on the site you signed up, the consent line you saw, and when you signed up, confirmed and unsubscribed. If you're signed in, we link it to your account. We send nothing until you confirm your address, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us.
- A fantasy league, only if you connect one. We read your league from Sleeper, ESPN (public leagues) or Fantrax using the username or league ID you give us, or from the roster you paste. We never ask for a password. Your browser keeps the league so it's there next time, and if you're signed in, so does your account (the platform, league ID, team ID, league name and season, and for a pasted roster, the players on it). Whether or not you're signed in, we also note on our side which league and team your browser connected (the platform, league ID, team ID and season, with a random ID for your browser, never a username, password or name), so we can count how the tool is used. Those records are deleted once nobody has used them for a year. If you turn on alerts, we keep the same league details with your alert so it can tell you who's free in your league.
- Phone and browser alerts, only if you turn them on. Your browser gives us an address at its notification service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft) and two keys, so we can send to that device. We keep them with the players on your roster, the league details above if you connected one, your account if you're signed in, and which alerts we've sent so you never get the same one twice. Turning alerts off deletes all of it, and so does the browser telling us the address no longer works.
- Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count page views, page load speed and a few actions (like connecting a league or downloading a share image) without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
- Questions you ask the stats assistant. If you use the AI chat, we keep your conversations so you can come back to them. Your questions are sent to Anthropic, whose model writes the answers.
- Basic server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived request logs (such as page addresses and IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies
We set one cookie when you sign in, to keep you signed in for up to 30 days. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. Your browser may also remember small settings, like which tab you last had open.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't use your data to train AI models.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the site, and only what each one needs:
- WorkOS, for sign-in and sending email codes.
- An email delivery service, to send the weekly email to people who signed up and confirmed.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Vercel, which hosts the site and counts page views.
- Sleeper, ESPN and Fantrax, which we only read from: we look up the username or league ID you give us to load your league, and send them nothing else.
- Anthropic, for answering questions in the stats assistant.
- Our database and cache providers, which store your account and picks.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Public parts of your profile
If you make picks, your display name and pick'em results can appear on the public leaderboard. You can hide yourself from the leaderboard in your profile settings. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data while your account exists. To delete your account and everything tied to it, email info@courtlens.app from the address you signed in with. We'll do it within 30 days.
Kids
CourtLens isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
