We'll compare their games, the chance each one plays, the matchup and their recent minutes, then pick one.

How we decide

For each player we add up his games in the window: what he usually gives you a game (our season projection, per minute, times his projected minutes), times the chance he plays that game (our “Will he play?” forecast, injury report included), adjusted for the matchup when our matchup model finds a real edge.

How sure we are comes from the gap between them against how much each one swings from game to game, the chance he sits, and how far off a projection can be. “Likely” means the pick comes out ahead about 3 times in 4 or more, “Lean” about 6 in 10, and anything closer is a coin flip. Rookies and players with few NBA games never get more than a lean.

“This week” is the rest of the fantasy week (Monday to Sunday). Before the season starts, “Tonight” is opening night.

“Rest of season” is for draft picks and trades: our season value from the rankings, so what he gives you a game times the games we expect him to play (injuries, age and rest included). A season projection can be off by a lot, so close gaps come out as coin flips.
